Biography

The Bankesters were discovered in a parking lot jam at a small bluegrass festival in the summer of 2004. They only knew two songs at the time, but it was enough to get them hired for their first gig. Seven years, hundreds of shows, thousands of miles, three CDs, a music video, and one son-in-law later, they’re a great sounding band featuring those beautiful harmonies that many believe only come from families. The band is currently made up of oldest daughter Melissa on bass and vocals; her husband Kyle on banjo, dobro, and guitar (and occasional vocal); Emily on fiddle and vocals; Alysha on mandolin, fiddle, and vocals; Dorene (mom) on guitar and vocals; and Phil (dad) on guitar and vocals.

In 2009 they were one of thirteen official IBMA showcase bands. They recently finished their seventh engagement at Branson, Missouri’s Silver Dollar City and have also been featured on the WSM-650 Radio stage during the Country Music Association’s annual Fan Fair in Nashville, TN.

Their newest recording, simply titled “The Bankesters”, features several previously unrecorded songs from songwriters such as Billy Boone Smith, Donna Ullisse, and Anna Owens, among others. The CD features a guest appearance by Jamie Johnson of The Grascals.

They’re currently recording their fourth CD, the second for Blue Circle Records.
